urban-architectural study
Adam Bednařík
The aim of the design was to find a functional use of the original building in the Otrokovice - Kvítkovice district, which has previously served as storage space, and at the same time to group the surrounding set of buildings within the same architectural character using simple traditional materials. The building will have three residential units , each with its own outdoor entrance and outdoor space.
The north wall of the building is in direct contact with the neighboring house - for this reason, the design made an effort to eliminate communication spaces in the apartments as much as possible - all living space of housing units is illuminated by windows from the south side. The windows will be enlarged to a clean floor as part of the design, the aim is to provide a feeling of more space and thus connect the interior with the exterior (garden / terrace).
As part of the material solution, there is an effort to preserve the original mass , shapes, slopes of the roof and the location of the original window openings. The material is complemented by a dormer on the 2nd floor, which improves the usability of the living space - lighting, clear height and connection with the exterior.
