Reconstruction for parents

The reconstruction of an apartment in a two-generation pre-revolutionary house aimed to simplify and modernize the interior spaces using natural light materials and respond to the needs of today's living.

The entrance area of the apartment is a hall with an open staircase and a fireplace. As part of the reconstruction, we keep the original steel stairs, which are supplemented with welded triangular elements, together with new oak steps. The original wooden soffit above the staircase is removed - this creates a dominant high entrance space with three lights.

The existing layout did not suit the operation of the apartment. A small kitchen with an unfortunately placed entrance to the pantry, further lacking a connection with the living space.

The kitchen space has increased thanks to the new location of the refrigerator in the space of the original pantry. The new living space was created by connecting the dining room, kitchen and living room. The entire living space is thus in direct connection with the three cardinal points, and the rays of the afternoon sun illuminate the living space of the dining room and continue along the long corridor.
